My father was a general. Or a colonel or something. He rose through the ranks so fast I couldnapos;t keep up. When I was a boy, I used to watch him leave the house, his medals shining, his uniform crisp...The last day I saw him was when it was my turn to go off to war, shipped to the Pacific to fight the Japanese. We stood on the train platform together. "Every brave man should fight and die for his country," he said indignantly, in sharp military tone. I shook his hand and climbed aboard the train. Through the steam from the locomotive I saw his hardened face glow and the tears streaming from his eyes. He mouthed the words please donapos;t die as I left.

"Hickory dickory dock," Duela whispered to herself. Even alone, she adapted a singsong tone. "The bird looked at the clock." In time with the words, she looked at her watch. "The clock struck two," she continued, even though it was a quarter past the hour, "away she flew." She rose from the folding chair at her desk in the warehouse. "Hickory dickory dock."

She looked at the walls of the building, all of the information that she had gathered over the last months. Information containing almost every piece of the stories of Harvey Dent, Nadine Lewis, and Jonathan Crane, not to mention any family members or associates whose names had come up in files again and again. Rachel Dawes, Margaret James. Family trees. Everything.

In the end, it was no comfort. This was the last time, she promised herself, she would ever be in this place. It was time to go somewhere, anywhere, else.

Breath me in, Iapos;m yours to keep.
And hold on to your words- cause talk is cheap.
And remember me tonight when youapos;re asleep.

Maybe this really was the right time for everything to fall together perfectly.
Maybe we were meant to be together- or at least thatapos;s what Iapos;m hoping.
I canapos;t say that everything feels exactly like destiny.
I canapos;t say that this feels apos;movie pictureapos; perfect.
But I can say that Iapos;ve never been happier than I am with you.
And I can say that Iapos;ve waited way too long for this- Iapos;m glad itapos;s finally here.

Itapos;s real funny how life gives you twists and turns... Fake-outs and teases you to no end.
Had you asked me a year ago, hell... Even two months ago, I never wouldapos;ve even began to think this wouldapos;ve turned out the way it did.
Iapos;m so scared to screw it up; be too clingy, bother him, have him get bored with me... Not do the right thing.
He says heapos;s happy... Genuinely.
But you know me, worrying all the time, overthinking every single situation.
Iapos;ve never been so scared to lose a boy as I am now.
Once youapos;ve waited years for something, and itapos;s finally coming to you... You canapos;t risk anything.

DIFFERENTNOTE: 2nd place in Towson (:2nd in our group, and 2nd out of finals with best musicality overall, I think.
West Johnston won 1st, but we placed above Kiski Holla.

Not much else to say. I need to buy a pink headband or bow since homecoming is this coming Saturday.

I always have fun at Columbia City Theatre. Their sound and lighting had issues tonight, which happens on occasion, but I had a great time with Nathan listening to House of Tarab and watching three dancers: Suzanne, Ruby, and (last but not least) Delilah. At the end of the show they invited everyone up on the stage/front of the room up to dance. Good times, and great energy. Someone kept smoking pot in between sets. I think it was one of the performers, smoking up in the green room. HA

Tonight was a little proto-birthday celebration. My actual birthday is on 10/21, which falls on Tuesday, so I celebrated a bit more today/tonight. Good times Soon I will be *cough* 26 *cough*. Um, no. But I still maintain the tradition of celebrating the b-day with tomfoolery of some sort or another. Went to a farm today, ran around in a corn maze, pet the animals (sheep goats) and got some decorative gourds.

time to sleep now. This weekend I am taking a break from thinking about anything stressy. There will be enough to think about this coming week, and I reserve the right to lay around reading my book, burning incense, and generally screwing around tomorrow. I am *not* allowed to read about anything related to the election, particularly regarding Crazy Nasal Voiced Lady with whom I Heartily Disagree about Many Things.

Cutting for Halloween 2 is done. Sewing it will be a huge undertaking. Speaking of huge undertaking, the Bats Day top is almost done. Iapos;m *really* pleased with it currently. I ended up eliminating the interior elastic straps. The bodice is tight enough I donapos;t need something on the arms to hold it up. Iapos;m trying to talk myself into stopping working on it and moving on to Halloween 2. I donapos;t have any purple thread, so if I start it, Iapos;m sewing dark purple (for starters) with black thread. I suppose there are worse things on this earth, but ideally I should go get some of the right color before starting on it. I just donapos;t have a lot of time left to finish - need Halloween 2 by next Saturday And why, you might ask, is it the last one I started?

Tummy has calmed down considerably, but I still feel the resulting strain of it being messed up earlier today. Meh. Iapos;m tired. Tummy issues always make me so tired, Iapos;ve no idea why. I dragged my butt out earlier today to load up on Dunkers, and was pleased to find our milk was still good, so Iapos;m taking it easy on my tummy this evening and having that. Iapos;m a little hungry, but I donapos;t wanna push my luck.

Anyway, itapos;s late enough I could just go to bed. Probably should.

So now that we get HD, Iapos;ve discovered the Science Channel. (Speaking of why Iapos;m not in bed). Awesome documentaries.

Ooh Been missing SNL with Palin Haha, Palin just called herself Caribou Barbie. OMG, Tina Fey and Palin look EXACTLY alike Like 99.9 match (like her daughterapos;s babydaddyapos;s paternity test). Ah cool, it just started and I havenapos;t missed it. But that does mean this is enough blogging for one night ;)

Iapos;m talking with a friend from AGES ago... Really, a LONG time ago... Interesting stuff. Nice to talk, but this came up in convo...and it just blows my mind.

You wouldnapos;t believe how tiny the field of renewable energy has shrunk over the last five years. Not grown, shrunk

From what I gathered from the petro engineer that worked with me at Applied Technologies, most people in renewable engineering just get hired on by oil and coal interests.. They get paid insane amounts of money to develop renewable alternatives.. That then get patented so they canapos;t get re-created in the open-market and just collect dust over years and years. Kinda depressing, in the long run. There was recently an 11 year old kid who developed a sonar panel that was 2500x more efficient than conventional solar panels, he made the biggest leap forward in solar technology in over 20 years of research.
